About the role
We are currently looking for a Raw Materials Manager in the biggest chocolate factory in Wieze.
In this role you are end responsible for the raw material planning execution and as a consequence, for the availability of incoming goods, applying the on time and in full principle. In your scope are raw materials like dairy, sugar, cocoa butter, nuts (paste), emulsifiers, fats, flavours, colours, additives, sweeteners, representing together a volume of 1000MT/day. Scope is the Wieze factory and comakers/copackers working as subcontracting for BC Belgium. You are also responsible for the packaging and labels for Wieze factory, GPC in EDC Aalst and copackers/comakers working as subcontractors for Barry Callebaut Belgium.
Key responsibilities include
- You are end responsible for bean supply and production planning of two cocoa liquor lines, 1 cocoa pressing line and 1 cocoa Moulding line in Wieze, optimizing line efficiency and maximizing full availability onsite and in the other factories. This means that you are 24/7 standby for external
suppliers and the Wieze production department.
- You have the responsibility for daily unloading activities onsite, guaranteeing safety, hygiene and traceability rules are respected, by the unloading
team as well as truck drivers.
- The Raw Materials Manager is responsible for mid/long-term capacity planning of the Wieze cocoa department to optimize the liquor portfolio
between Barry Callebaut Belgium and Barry Callebaut Cocoa, taking into account efficiency, capacity and costs.
- You are the main point of contact for all suppliers, supplying the factory in Wieze. Together with with Sourcing and regional QA you evaluate all
raw material suppliers, supplying the eight liquid factories in Western Europe, based on OPAR and OTIF scores. The Raw Materials Managers regularly
follows up 3rd party logistics providers by regular visits and meetings and service level tracking.
In terms of people management, you manage the Materials management team (white collars) and unloading team (blue collars). You agree on
stock targets for each raw material group, after discussing with the raw material group responsible (team member). Afterwards, making sure these
targets are respected month after month. As a Manager you are responsible for the resource planning mid/long term.
- On a tactical level you are responsible for the escalation process when there are raw material availability issues in Wieze but also in the other
Western European factories, on short term but also on longer term.
- In this position you also participate in several projects/initiatives: with production you follow-up on automatization projects with effects on raw materials
and projects around 5S on internal warehouses; with engineering you follow-up on engineering projects for raw materials flows optimization;with R&D
you follow-up on projects with impact on number of raw materials, costs etc.
- In terms of stock management, you are responsible for periodic stock counts and reconciliation over the different storage locations. You
organize periodic stock counts at the different storage locations (internal – external), you organize and support analysis with SAP stocks for
reconciliation and you find out reason for discrepancies and install corrective actions.
- You are end responsible for a budget of 7,5 million EUR /year, which you follow-up by monthly tracking of costs spent to be able to control them and
discuss with the responsible team members.
- In terms of continuous improvement, you are responsible for optimization of all raw material planning processes and tools to increase efficiency
and reduce short term changes and consequently avoid indirect costs. As a Raw Materials Manager you are closely following the unloading activities
onsite to detect improvement opportunities in current ways of working. You are also looking for structural savings within the inbound flow of raw
materials and packaging.
About you
You obtained a Master Degree and have at least 8 years of experience in (Raw) Materials planning.
As a person you are flexible, resilient, analytical and a real hands-on problem-solver.
As you are the end responsible for raw materials planning, you are able to calculate risks in terms of timings and costs.
You are fluent in English.
